Preferred Asphalt Was Featured on KMBC News for donating to a local charity

Asphalt Donation

BELTON, Mo. —
A local contractor has stepped up in a big way to help a nonprofit animal shelter in need of a new parking lot.

The owner of Preferred Asphalt and Concrete, of Grandview, saw KMBC 9’s original story about parking lot issues, due to another contractor, at the Help Humane Animal Shelter in Belton. Rob Paszkiewicz said his company is fixing the parking lot for free.

“I’ve got two dogs and a cat at home, so I can’t adopt a cat, so I adopted [the] parking lot,” Paszkiewicz said.

Workers at the shelter have praised Preferred Asphalt’s workers and generosity.

“I think they’re good people, and they know we work hard to help other animals,” said shelter employee Shawnee Callahan. “Hopefully, they get some business in return.”

Workers at the shelter claimed an asphalt contractor, Show-Me Tree N Paving, LLC, of Lexington, did a shoddy job on the shelter’s parking lot and overcharged them with high-pressure sales tactics.

The shelter contacted KMBC 9 Investigates for help, claiming water still pools in an area they wanted fixed in the first place.
